Sooner or later, most people will unfortunately have experiences in their lives that are either traumatic or otherwise very upsetting to them in some way. If this has happened to you, you have come to the right place because I can help! Please scroll down below to read about the types of experiences I can help you heal from and move beyond using the EMDR approach.
Family of Origin/Childhood Issues
Many clients have suffered emotional and psychological wounds as a result of their experiences growing up which often lead to difficulties in their adult relationships as well as other problems such as depression, anxiety (including panic attacks, phobias, OCD, procrastination and other forms of self-sabotage), and low self esteem. I have treated hundreds of clients over the past ten years suffering from these types of problems using EMDR therapy with consistently very good results. And even more good news: because EMDR works relatively quickly and very thoroughly compared to other forms of treatment, the amount of time and money you will need to spend on your treatment is likely to be significantly less. Part of the reason for this is that we look for themes, for example abuse suffered as a result of one parent having anger issues, or maybe as a result of bullying. Using EMDR trauma therapy, we do not need to process every single incident. I will simply ask you to pick one example within each theme (either something typical or a particularly ‘bad’ incident that stands out in your mind). By processing this one memory, you will receive healing for all such similar events that you witnessed or experienced.
Childhood sexual abuse is by far one of the most painful and challenging life experiences any human being may need to overcome. If this has happened to you…

Childhood Emotional Abuse
Any experience of trauma and abuse from childhood typically leaves debilitating emotional wounds that will persist throughout life unless they are successfully addressed.
Victims of an accident or other man-made or natural disasters
EMDR is highly effective in treating people who have been involved in a serious accident such as a car crash or airline disaster, have experienced or even witnessed any other major injury, had their home burn down, or lived through a severe earthquake or other natural disaster. Once treatment is complete, you will not entirely forget that this happened to you but it will become “just a memory” (like any other) and you will be able to say something like “Well, that was a long time in the past and I am over that now.” Any associated flashbacks, nightmares, hyper-vigilance, panic attacks and insomnia will all resolve and should no longer be an issue.
Victims of Crime
If you have ever witnessed or been the victim of a crime, EMDR can also very successfully help you heal from the bad memories and current symptoms of the lasting negative impact these kinds of experiences have left you with. You will not entirely forget that this happened to you but it will become “just a memory” (like any other) and you will be able to say something like “Well, that was a long time in the past and I am over that now”. Any associated flashbacks, nightmares, hyper-vigilance, fears and insomnia will all resolve and no longer be an issue.
If you have ever been the victim of domestic violence or have witnessed it – for example, while growing up in your family of origin, EMDR therapy can help you recover from these experiences rapidly and completely. You will not entirely forget that this happened to you but it will become “just a memory” (like any other) and you will be able to say something like “Well, that was a long time in the past and I am over that now”. Any associated flashbacks, nightmares, hyper-vigilance, fears and insomnia will all resolve and no longer be an issue
The Trauma of Rejection
All of us at various times in our lives will likely experience some form of significant rejection. This may come in the form of the loss of a major relationship or perhaps a work or career-related loss such as being let go from a job, or failing to obtain a particular position in the workplace or at a particular educational institution. If this loss has had a major negative impact on your life and interfering with your ability to move forward, EMDR can help!
